It was last week I received information that you’ve started playing truant and keeping bad company. In fact I got two letters to that effect apart from personal contact a concerned person had with me. It’s incredible to learn that you of all people can still indulge in such obnoxious acts. I now know the reason why you keep repeating every class.

You see, the consequences of your attitude are great and many. You may not know that such can make you join a secret society. Our parents told you before going to Kaduna that ‘bad company corrupt good manner’ and that a rotten fruit spoils the whole in the basket’. The current problem among students in Nigeria today is that of secret cult. This has lead to the death of almost a hundred students in Nigerian universities this year alone. You can still remember the violence at LASU where our cousin lost his life just because he was in secret cult which was brought about by bad company.

Furthermore, your bad habit can lead to rustication by the authorities. Last week the federal government gave each vice chancellor a wide range of power to deal with anti-social habits in higher institutions. Anyone caught, the consequence will be e*******n and nothing less. Being the first to see the four walls of a university in the family, you need to show good example as good example is ‘better man precept. You should turn over a new leaf and be a good ambassador of our family.

If you don’t know, a good number of students from LASU have been put behind bars while others are declared wanted. Some of those students we learnt, did not physically commit any offence but were known friends of ‘criminals’ among student. The police want them to make useful statements’ to enable security agents get to the core of clashes between rival groups in the institution of higher learning. You may become a victim of circumstance if you don’t turn a new leaf before nemesis catches up with you.

Akin, playing truant and keeping bad company lead to mass failure. Those who attend leacutres punctually cannot remember all the have been taught, what about you who hardly go to school? I have now seen why you repeat and carry-out courses every now and then. If you can still recollect when last you’ve ill, the doctor diagnosed intake of hard d***s as the cause of your sickness but you denied it all. Now the cat has been let out of the bag. This shows that your illness was as a result of your bad company and truancy. Remember, hard d***s lead to madness.

I now urge you to remember t he son of whom you’re and always remember our parents’ moral talks before you left for the university. Those who indulge in such bad habits end up frustrated but it is not too late to change for the better. I cant tell our parents, as you know they are hypertensive. You as the only child to be trained to have gone astray, is enough to make them develop high blood pressure. Now, start going to church and pray fervently for spiritual power to enable you overcome. Attend classes punctually, write your assignments, study much and avoid keeping bad company.
