Write a letter to the chairman of the P.T.A. of your school suggesting three ways in which the parents can work together with the teachers to create a better learning environment in the school.

SUGGESTIONS ON WAYS OF WORKING TOGETHER

Over the years, I have been thinking in my mind on how parents and teachers in my school could work together for the overall improvement of my school.

I am a student of Ideal Girls’ Senior High School, Surulere. I am in SS3 and of course the Assistant class captain in the school you are the chairman.

Considering the state of the school two and half years ago, I am disturbed now in my mind over the situation of things in my school. It is on the basis of this that I have written this letter to you to find a lasting solution to the problems of working together with the teachers to move the school forward and better.

To do this, however, sir, I am suggesting that parents should in their meetings agree to contribute certain sum of money to effect some repairs of some classrooms especially that of the SS1 Classes. These classes are in the state of disrepair. Where this is done, there would be an improvement in learning among the students.

Another area the P.T.A. could work together is in the area of employing a P.T.A Teacher that would complement the government employed teachers. This is needed as a result of insufficient teachers in key subjects like Mathematics, Biology and Accounts where there are no teachers. Where this is done, I believe, there would be improvement in the overall result of the students.

There should of course be a point of the P.T.A working together with the teachers in the area of socials. I am saying that the P.T.A should work with the teachers by encouraging them through identifying “BEST TEACHER” of the year and rewarding such a teacher by given a cash reward to encourage others to work better.

Doing this however, working together of the P.T.A and the teachers would, in no small measure, enhance your good name and that of the school to be written on gold.
