There has been an outbreak of an epidemic in your area. Write an article for publication in order to check it.

THE CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN OSHODI
Long before this disturbing moment few others and myself have been raising alarm over the deteriorating sanitary conditions of Oshodi area of Lagos where I live. The cholera outbreak, which started early last week, has already claimed over one hundred victims-men, women, young and old, and of course children.

The causes of the cholera epidemic are not far-fetched. The air and the environment are polluted with many heaps of refuse which the relevant state or local government authorities have continuously refused to clear off. There has been buck-passing in that sector as to which agency of government is supposed to be saddled with the responsibility of evacuating refuse.

Another major cause of the cholera disease is contaminated water. Most water pipes are leaky. Some few Nigerians urinate, defecate and pass a variety of impurities into gutters and channels of pipe network. The treated water that most people drink in Oshodi area is contaminated, and so detrimental to health. Another cause of the chloral outbreak is the contact which most of our food items have with bacteria, viruses and other harmful germs. Most people buy and eat unsterilized fruits. The effects of this cholera outbreak are obvious and many. Some of the effects are immediate, others are remote.

Some victims of this outbreak who don’t receive quick and appropriate medical attention will die. Some young ones will have their growth stunted or vital organs impaired. The society will lose a lot of able-bodied men and women.
My suggestions are few and could be effective. Personal hygiene, good environmental laws should be maintained and enforced in Oshodi. The heaps of refuse must be cleared.

Sanitary inspection officers must be sent to all markets and shops to enforce sanitation edicts. The government can equally step up advertisements on all media fronts to increase basic health awareness campaigns.
More hospitals should be built near the people and the old ones should be well equipped, staffed and basic d***s provided to meet normal and emergency demands. In conclusion, immunization programmes or measures must be stepped up too. The government and all relevant health centers should put all hands on deck to tackle this epidemic before it does more harm and/or spread to other areas.
