2018/2019 SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE FOR NIGERIAN UNDERGRADUATE AT HUMBER COLLEGE,CANADA by : 3:58 pm On July 13, 2018

A limited number of entrance scholarships are available to full-time students entering a Humber post-secondary/postgraduate program for the first time. Entrance scholarships will be awarded by decision of Humber’s Scholarship Committee. A student may not receive more than one entrance scholarship.

The Entrance Scholarship application will be available on MyHumber in mid-August.

Conditions
You must be approved into a Humber postsecondary/ postgraduate program before being considered eligible for a scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded by decision of Humber’s Scholarship Committee.
A student may not receive more than one scholarship.
Scholarships are available for September registration only.
Where scholarships are grouped by academic school/campus, only one scholarship is awarded per school/campus.
Donor-Funded Entrance Scholarships
Scholarships are based on available funds, values may fluctuate annually. Humber gratefully acknowledges all donations that help contribute to the donor funded entrance scholarships.Deadline: September 30 each year.

General Scholarships
Scholarships open to full-time students in any program of study at Humber College, who are entering a Humber post-secondary/postgraduate program for the first time.

Humber Students’ Federation Entrance Scholarship
A scholarship is presented to a full-time student enrolling in a Humber program for the first time. Students must exhibit high academic standards (minimum 80 per cent grade point average), as selected by the scholarship committee.

Jean Augustine Legacy Scholarship
A scholarship is presented to a student from the Etobicoke-Lakeshore area, entering any Humber postsecondary program for the first time. The successful recipient must demonstrate financial need and how they are working to overcome obstacles in the pursuit of their educational goals as well as participate in his or her local community.

Applications are to be accompanied with the following supporting documentation: Two letters of reference (academic/personal/employment), a letter of approximately 250 words on “What I have done to overcome obstacles in pursuit of my educational goals and how I have participated in my local community”, plus a transcript.

Montego Bay Achievers Scholarship
A scholarship is presented to a mature student from an at-risk neighborhood in Toronto that has overcome adversity to pursue their educational goals. Criteria may include any or all of academic achievement, performance/portfolio competition, essay competition and references, as selected by the scholarship committee.

This scholarship is open to mature students from the Jane-Finch, Rexdale or other similar city-designated at-risk neighbourhoods in Toronto, who are entering for the first time any Humber postsecondary program. The successful recipient must demonstrate financial need and how they are working to overcome obstacles in the pursuit of their educational goals.

School of Applied Technology
BOLT (Tridel & Partners) Scholarships
A scholarship is presented to 10 students enrolling in in the following diploma programs: Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology, and Sustainable Energy and Building Technology.

The recipient must have successfully completed high school or an equivalent and have either: attended the Tridel Day of Discovery and completed a job shadowing experience on a construction site, completed a high school trade program, or worked in the construction industry for a minimum of two months, as selected by the scholarship committee.

Applications are to be accompanied with the following supporting documentation: Official transcript form final year at secondary school or equivalent, one letter of employment reference supporting the applicant’s employment in the construction industry if applicable and an essay of approximately 250 words on “What I have done to overcome obstacles (e.g. Financial, other) in pursuit of my educational goals”.

10 scholarships available for $3,000 each

RONA Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is presented to two students entering the Home Renovation Technician program who demonstrate good academic standing (a minimum 70 per cent average in the final two semesters of secondary school or equivalent) and extra-curricular leadership in their secondary school studies or in the community, as selected by the scholarship committee.

School of Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism
Cardiac Health Foundation of Canada ESLM Entrance Scholarship
A scholarship is presented to a full-time student entering the Exercise & Lifestyle Management postgraduate program. The student must have excellent academic standing (a minimum 80 per cent average) and have shown a keen interest in pursuing a career in health promotion. The student is selected based on support from the faculty and as recommended by the scholarship committee.

Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated past involvement in Cardiac Health Foundation of Canada activities Program and other endeavors initiated by the Cardiac Health Foundation of Canada.

Student must have proven financial need. Application must be accompanied by: 250 word essay explaining their interest in a career in a career in health promotion. One letter of reference (academic/extracurricular/employment) Official copy of undergraduate degree transcript The scholarship winner will also be offered an internship at the Cardiac Health Foundation of Canada.

Susan Ginther Entrance Scholarship
A scholarship is presented to a full-time student entering the Food and Nutrition program who has achieved honours grades in the last two semesters of high school and who can demonstrate an understanding of customer satisfaction through quality control by completing a 250 word essay on the topic, as selected by the scholarship committee.

Applications are to be accompanied with the following supporting documentation: Two letters of reference (academic/personal/employment), plus transcript.

Liberal Arts and Sciences
General Arts and Science – Entrance Scholarship

A Scholarship is presented to a student who has demonstrated academic proficiency (minimum of 80 per cent average) and involvement in extracurricular activities that clearly indicate a commitment to their community as selected by the scholarship committee. In addition, two reference (education, employment and /or community) letters are to be included in the submission package, these reference letters must explain the recipients commitment to their studies, their academic and/ or career goals and their focus on giving back to others. These aspects have also been addressed by the recipient through the submission of a letter addressed to the selection committee (1-2 pages in length), where they also indicate how this scholarship will enable them to succeed in their studies.
