A Letter to My Uncle Telling Him What I Tend to Do After My Final Year in Secondary School
|A Letter to My Uncle Telling Him What I Tend to Do After My Final Year in Secondary School by prosper: 10:34 pm On May 14, 2018|
You are in the final year in secondary school. Write a letter to your uncle, who is an influential person in society, telling him what you intend to do next and asking for his assistance.
It’s a pity you couldn’t reply to any of my letters. At least I have written two of them within the last three weeks. I begin to wonder what must have gone wrong, this is because you are not the careless type who is reluctant at replying to letters in good time. But who knows what must have happened to the letters in the process as our postal system is nothing to write home about. Ours is perhaps the most hopeless and corrupt the world over. It’s highly deplorable.
I am writing to inform you that I am in the final year in secondary school and about to start the final examinations in no long a time. Also I want to discuss what I intend to do next and to solicit your support for my future undertakings. As at now, I am fully preparing for my WASSCE to enable me pass with flying colours. In view of this, I want to enroll for extra-mural lessons not for my preparing for my WASSCE to enable me pass with flying colours. In view of this, I want to enroll for extra-mural lessons not for my final exams alone but also to pass the forthcoming UME to secure admission into a reputable university come this October.
I have just been told of a very good pre-university evening study centre here in Agege. It has a wide range of programmes that can cater for my needs. It was introduced to me by a friend who attended the centre last session and who is now at University of Lagos. According to him it doesn’t cost much to attend lesson at the centre as what it takes is five thousand naira for the two courses I intend to study there.
While I am getting ready for the extra lessons, I will also ask for your moral, material and financial assistance to make the programme a huge success. I will solicit moral support from you, I want your advice because, as you know advice is best heeded when needed. I once told you I wanted to become a medical doctor but of late my performance in Physics leaves much to be desired. I need your advice urgently before I obtain JAMB form.
Uncle, I will equally request for material assistance. As you promised during Easter, I want those textbooks you used for advanced Level in science subjects. They will be very useful for my UME as the questions are a little bit above O’level standard. One needs to score very high marks to go into university on merity. Also, in case of any eventuality in the UME, your assistance will be very much needed to secure admission. By your status and influence in the society, you will get me a rightful course at university of Lagos as a member of the Governing Council of the institution.
Most important is the financial support. I need money now more than ever before. Apart from the lesson fees of five thousand naira, I intend t o obtain JAMB and GCE forms which cost another four thousand naira. As the bread-winner of the family, yu are the only one I can turn to for solution, I quite appreciate your support for the family at large particularly since my father gave up the ghost. May God in his infinite mercy bless you abundantly and grant you long life and prosperity.
I implore you to send my greetings to your dear wife and children. I expect our reply soonest with the requests made.
