|Abuja Airport Closure: FG Deploys 120 Health Experts To Kaduna by Flex: 12:27 am On March 5, 2017|
The federal government trained 120 health experts for deployment to handle emergency accident victims in Kaduna ahead of the commencement of the flights diversion from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to Kaduna International Airport.
Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, who disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit on Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State also urged the Kaduna state government to provide 24-hour power supply at the blood transfusion centre.
He explained that the establishment of the emergency health centres would effectively offer services to road users, in case of any emergency situation.
The minister however added that, his ministry had made adequate arrangements with FRSC, NEMA, Ministry of Defence, Police, Federal Fire Service and other relevant agencies for referral cases and to ensure safety of lives.
“We have observed that blood transfusion centre has been down due to lack of power. We therefore need assistance of the state government to put up generator to provide 24 hours power supply, consumables for primary healthcare centres to take care of fractures, wounds and fuel where there is no fuel.
“We are seeing this as pilot project. We want it to continue, to give emergency response to Nigerian road users, even after the relocation of the international airport back to Abuja. We want to give, fast, competent and physical response to road users in need of it along major roads, such Abuja-Kaduna, Abuja-Lokoja, Abuja-Lafia, Lagos-Ibadan and others”, he said.
