First there was the analog type of phone, then known as telephone which uses land line, to dial a number takes up to 2 minutes or more because you have to spin each number separately. Those days very few rich people own a telephone. People go to other people’s house to receive call and to do this; you must be in good terms with the owner. If you are to receive a call by 9:00 pm, you must be around by at least 8:30 pm and wait for your call while you engage in a discussion with the owner of the telephone that is if they care to discuss with you. This is just a little about the stress of receiving a call then, communication was mostly done by letter writing which takes up to a week or more before the recipient gets your message and replies you using the same procedure.

But today, a kid of five years can own a phone if his parents can afford one. You can send a text message to any part of the world and it is received within seconds. With the invention of android phones, one can now make video call whereby both the caller and receiver see themselves respectively on their screens while making call. The invention of mobile phone made it possible to receive and make call while on transit, it was never like this before. With mobile phone, apps were introduced; a very good example is facebook which makes it possible to reconnect with families, friends and relatives no matter how distant they are from you. With Facebook you can share pictures, make video calls and send text messages and even advertise your business.

The invention of android phones has simply turned the phone everyone knows into a mini computer. Now you can watch videos live on the internet, create video, download almost everything you desire and also make money with your phone. Who could have thought this would be possible here in Nigeria 40 years ago. Thanks to science and technology, thanks to all the devoted innovators who spent sleepless nights in the quest to make new discoveries and transform the world to an easier and better place.
