Namecheap is one of the most trusted and cheapest domain registrars in the world. However, setting up a domain registered from Namecheap to point to another web host could be very stressful for a newbie. Because of that, I have taken my time to draft this step-by-step guide on how to successfully configure your domain from Namecheap to point to another host.

Before I go on, I would like to tell you that something really necessitated this article. A client gave me work to do for him and I was searching for a cheap domain registrar, and luckily I found Namecheap. I quickly registered on the site and used my credit card to pay for the domain. Everything was successful and I received an email that my domain has been successfully registered.

The client already had a web host from Godaddy so I was to point the domain to Godaddy name server. After pointing the name server to Godaddy, I found out that the domain was not resolving. Initially, I thought it was DNS propagation period causing it. So I waited for 24hours and yet it was not going. At this juncture, it was clear to me that the DNS was not resolving to Godaddy.

Note that changing only Namecheap Name server to yours won’t be enough to resolve the domain to your web host. You have to use the Advanced Settings to add your CName and A record.
