Vehicle Identification is carried out using plate number verification. Each vehicle has a unique Identification number. However, sometimes you may be issued an invalid plate number. Hence the need for you to verify your plate number on the National Vehicle Identification website to be sure that your plate number is valid.

Before you put your motor on the road or before you proceed to the police station to obtain tinted glass permit, you have to first verify the authenticity of your vehicle plate number to avoid your vehicle being seized by the police as an exhibit.

 How to Verify the Authenticity of Your Vehicle Plate Number

Procedure: go to Google or Bing, search https://nvis.frsc.gov.ng/ and enter the website from the result shown by the search engine. You can also enter the URL directly on your computer or mobile browser. Inasmuch as you typed it correctly, you will still be taken to the same web page.

Once you are on the website, look up at the top menus and locate the link labelled “Verify Plate Number”. Click on it, then on the page that will come up, enter the plate number of your vehicle on the small box and click verify. If your plate number is valid, it will show you the name of the vehicle that is using the plate number otherwise it will display error or invalid plate number.

Note: This verification is only applicable to the number plate with this format: ABC123 not AB123ABC i.e number plate that begins with three letters.
