Jamb Cutoff Marks for Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges 2019 by : 1:57 am On June 12, 2019

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced the national and general minimum Jamb cutoff marks for placement of candidates into the nation’s tertiary institutions; universities polytechnics and colleges of education in Nigeria.

The minimum JAMB cutoff mark for public universities is 160 and that of private universities is 140. While the cutoff mark for public polytechnics is 120, and 110 for private polytechnics.

The benchmark for admission into colleges of education is 100 and above.

Note that the minimum JAMB cutoff marks simply represent the minimum scores institutions can set as their cutoff marks for admission. This means that an institution can use cutoff marks higher than the general cutoff marks but cannot set it lower.

For example, the University of Lagos can use 180, 200, 160 or any score not less than 160 as their JAMB admission cutoff mark.

The least score with which a candidate can be admitted into any institution is 100. A candidate who scored less than 100 in JAMB cannot be admitted into any high institution, be it polytechnic or college of education.

What Can I do if I did not reach the JAMB minimum cutofF Marks?

Now that the JAMB cutoff marks for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education are out, you may be wondering what to do if your score is not up to that. Depending on your score, there are a number of things you can do to still gain admission this year.

If your JAMB score is not up to 100, you cannot be admitted into any institution in Nigeria through JAMB. However, you can still gain admission into your dream institution but not with JAMB. IJMB is your next option.

What is
IJMB stands for X*X. It is a program that enables students to gain admission into Nigeria universities. IJMB will save you the stress of wasting another year at home. After successfully completing all the requirements for the program, you will be given admission into 200 level of the university you have chosen. Read more about IJMB here

Go for IJMB if you did not score up to 100 in your JAMB or if your score is lower than the JAMB Cutoff mark for your school.
