Today many youths, even non Nigerians are massively involved in the music business which makes one to wonder what is really attracting them to the showbiz. But an Igbo adage says and l quote ‘when a road is smooth, the user must surely pass there again and again’. So why wont Nigerian youths rush into the profession when they see the likes of Tuface, Davido, Olamide, Wizkid, Techno, Small Doctor, Tiwa Savage, Simi etc.

These are not just names of human beings, they are humans quite sure, some of us even lived in the same street with them, went to the same school, fought with these guys while growing up. But the shocking truth is that today, they are multi millionaires, big time rich youths who achieved remarkable success here in Nigeria and even overseas. Yes their achievements and fame even enable them to travel overseas for concerts, shows and tours and they earn good amount of dollars for this. I was in a saloon one day and Terry G’s music video was played on the TV, one particular lady was so moved that she spoke out, ‘l know this guy very well, he’s so stubborn, always s*****g m*******a, so tattered and dirty but oh my goodness look at him now a celebrity’. Yes, that’s how music can transform someone from grass to grace.

Another person recalled on a radio show l was listening to, the first day Olamide stepped into a radio station to promote his song. While at the reception, he sat so buttoned up and looked timid with his CD in his hand, waiting to be attended to. Today, Olamide is an owner of 5 or more filling stations here in Nigeria. Recently he launched his own TV station. l can go on and on but l must take a pause here, my message is simple, if you have the talent of music in you. Don’t hide it, take the bold step and start from somewhere.
