I saw this girl last week in church. She was beautiful. Effortlessly but definitely drop-dead-beautiful. She seemed totally unaware of it. If I had walked up to her and said: ‘Hey. You look beautiful.’ She would have looked at me with questioningly and answered: ‘Oh! Are you sure?‘

Well, it’s not how beautiful she was that I wanna tell you about, instead it was the way she read.

The Bible Study teacher called a Bible verse and she got to it first and began to read. Her voice was… No, not as beautiful as she looks. I looked up from my phone (which was where I had my Bible) and looked at her with a little wonder… and a lot of pity.

Her voice sounded as though she was holding back tears. It seemed to me she choking on tears, but continues to read in spite of it. As she read, her voice broke up intermittently and then rebounded into a crispy tone that reminded me of the sound my mouth makes when I’m crunching Cabin Biscuit! Or the way I’d defend myself when I was accused of something I didn’t do when I was younger.

LOL

Yea, we know about LOL: Laugh Out Loud.

How about ROL? READ OUT LOUD!

Watching this lady in church Read out the Bible reminded me of Joshua 1:8.

“This book of the law shall not depart from your MOUTH, but you shall meditate upon it day and night…”

In that passage you see God instructing you clearly to ROL. (Let’s talk about the “meditate upon it” some other time. Tonight is for ROL.) It isn’t there by mistake. As a matter of fact, God repeats the instruction many other verses in the Bible, directly and indirectly.

See Deuteronomy 6:7. Romans 10:9-10.

Why is it important to ROL? I’ll give you one reason: Whatsoever you speak about often dominate your thoughts. And whatever dominates your thoughts, dominates your life.

You see, God’s word is God’s singular weapon of transformation in man. When God wants to do something, he speaks. When he wanted to create the world, he spoke. When he wanted to save the world, he sent his Word (Jesus). And now, because he wants to transform you and make you prosperous, he says his word must not depart from your mouth.

Do yourself a favor, before you sleep this night, pick up your Bible and ROL a little (Not so loud that you wake your roommates from sleep sha. LOL). Tomorrow, ROL again. Doesn’t matter what or how you feel. I learned from that girl in church that whether my voice is cracking or not, whether I’m happy or sad, whether I’m missing someone special or someone special broke my heart, I just gotta ROL!!!!

The answer to some of your prayers is already available –  ROL.
