The Vandalisation of Public Facilities in My Country

Write an article suitable for publication in one of your national dailies discussing the vandalisation of public facilities in your country and its effects.
1. VANDALIZATION OF PUBLIC FACILITIES
I hereby with deep sense of purpose and responsibility on my person to first commend your news-paper- THE PUNCH for a job well-done in dishing out news and other information at the right time of expectation. I therefore writ this article for publication as usual to discuss the spate of vandalization of public facilities in this country of ours.
It is a pain to see various public facilities being vandalized with impunity by some citizens of this country under the guise of saying “it’s the government property” without realizing that we all appeared to suffer for such vandalization. A good example is the rate at which vandals vandalize pipes conveying petroleum products. It is now so rampant that instead of accosting or apprehending such people at the onset of their operations, nobody will care until the effect of such vandalization become a disaster, that is when we would all cry foul, pushing the fault on government.
I felt dismay also at the rate people spoil public toilet. The public toilets provided by the government is to help ease the pains of those on the move to answer the call of nature. But to my surprise, most of those that are badly pressed earlier no sooner they are relieved, forge to flush their mess to leave room for others to also be relieved. They leave the ‘thing’ there and the accumulation of such leads to epidemic such as cholera, vomiting and other related diseases.
There is also the vandalization of portable drinking water in most public taps. The cause of this is the over-turning of the tap knobs thereby making the tap lose grip of control and you find water spilling, over-flowing gutters and at the end shortage of water for the people themselves. All these are daily happening of public facilities.
In view of these and other ones not mentioned, I hereby suggest possible solutions to the problem of vandalization of public facilities.
Firstly, people around where any public facility is should form vigilante groups to oversee the usage of such facilities to forestall vandalization.
Secondly, the government should give S.O.S telephone numbers around such facilities, these days of G.S.M. phones, for concerned people to call in case of apprehending a vandal.
I think there would be a reduction in vandalization of public facilities if this write-up is looked into with a view to implementingTags: ESSAY
