Ask me the fastest music growing nation on the planet today and I will boldly tell you it’s Nigeria. Been the largest country in Africa and the most populated black nation on the globe; we deserve this title because good facts and history claims that music originated from Africa, l prefer calling it motherland. Now if music originated from Africa, definitely Nigeria is the bedrock of music even though this happened before the amalgamation so also did Nigeria exist as three colonies before the amalgamation.

You may not know that all the African countries are looking up to Naija as its mentor in the world of music, we have the highest number of A-list artists: this means the highest number of rich artist; we also have the highest number of upcoming artist and highest number of music lovers. Music has contributed so much to the growth of Nigeria’s GDP because within the past 20 yrs, more recording companies have emerged than in the entire history of Nigeria.

Today the federal government derives billions of naira from taxes and royalties paid by the recording companies to enjoy a smooth business environment. Also, music has created a massive scale of employment for the teeming jobless youths in Nigeria. Music has taken a lot of youths from the slumps to mansions, from drug addicts and peddlers to celebrities, from grass to grace. Today many youths are earning very good money through music in the areas of dancing, song writing, music production and directing, studio engineering, dance instructor, D.O.P i.e director of photography, lights man, electricians, decorators, models, video directors, keyboardist, guitarist, graphic designers beat makers etc. Finally music has really inspired and educated us, it is the best means of passing information across the globe besides the internet.
