There are many biblical scriptures that give encouragement and assurance in both good and bad times. Jeremiah 29 vs 11 often reminds us of God’s plans for us which are always good. It gives a renewed hope and courage to take a step of faith and move ahead.

However, some circumstances and unforeseen contingencies come our way and it seems that our hopes and dreams begins to crash. Have you ever been in such situations where trusting God seems to be your last option, where your dreams begins to fade and you wonder where your hope lies? You ask, How did I get here? Why is this happening to me? Dread fills your heart and it feels like your whole world is crumbling down. “God loves me and He is with me,” you say, but fear still grips your heart as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

Difficulties and distresses often create a sense of insecurity and emptiness in us. You begin to wonder, ‘where is God in all of this? Remember, you can feel empty but you are not lonely. Trusting God helps to rid that awful feeling whilst knowing that God is with you at every step of the way. He has said “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”. These promises and awareness of God’s presence helps to still the raging storms in our heart and show us which direction to go.

One important thing to note is that God gives much importance and care to those things that are important in our lives even as we learn to trust in Him. Giving Him total control and entrusting our entire lives to Him gives us peace and calmness in our hearts through difficult times.

While we know that faithful is He who has promised us His goodness and His presence through every step, determine to trust Him when the chips are down and all hope seems to be gone. He will hold you through the storms and lead you to the green pastures.
