Way Forward For African Teams To Perform In World Cup
|Way Forward For African Teams To Perform In World Cup by chyko87: 10:37 am On July 27, 2018|
Football has really evolved from what it was in the late 90s and has changed since then. Gone are those days when the round leather game was played with little technicality. These days football teams are more defensive minded due to the fact that they do not want to concede goals thereby are said to be more defensive. Coaches of European teams now ensure a close type of formation whereby you do not get to give your opponents the space and luxury to hold, run and pass the ball.
The Russian 2018 world cup have come and gone with four European teams able to reach the last four and eventually won by France national football team. Five African teams graced the occasion, Nigeria, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Senegal with none of them able to scale through the group stage. This has left football pundits in the continent to suggest that that the game is really dwindling down in the continent offering little or no solution to it.
Football in Africa lacks Administrative Deficiency. Africans are so comfortable where they are in the round leather game and are not ready to tackle the game admnistratively. A situation where by they are not ready to play the politics of the game which the other continents such as Asia, North America, Europe are doing. It is not about kicking the round leather ball alone but being among those in the administrative duties of the game who have a say on how the game is to be run. Until Africa and CAF are ready to attach themselves in relevant positions where it concerns how the football matters are to be carried out, the continent will continue to suffer globally in the world stage.
