‘Odogwu’ is an Igbo word that refers to ‘The Great One‘. Burna boy fans in Igbo land will be thrilled with this jam as he calls on them to hail him “Odogwu” whenever he comes around. It could be a hint that he will soon bombard the south Eastern states soon.

Odogwu comes after ‘Money play‘ which was his first release of the year. Burna boy upholds the Igbo culture with his visuals. The inspiration behind the song was that whenever he visited the Igbo land, they called him ‘Odogwu’ which means the great one or leader.

The video director helped the visuals to showcase Igbo rich culture and noticeable traditional elements. The video really depicts an ‘Odogwu’ of Igbo land.

The video reveals people praising and chanting Burna boy’s name in the video with chiefs and traditional rulers present. The sound of the flute (Apele) filled the air as the sensation danced honourably.

The video showed how he was conferred the ‘Odogwu’ of Igbo land. A priest held a sacrificial cock and the conferment was concluded with the ‘Okpu Ndi Nze’ (red cap) on the African Giant, Burna Boy.

The Odogwu was dressed in a typical Igbo attire – the Isiagu (traditional regalia), coral beads, ‘Akupe’ (hand fan).

Conclusively, Burna Boy buttressed the point he made in February. He said “I always knew I was and I am the best. Everyone you think is the best known I’m best since Fela Kuti”.
