You are the chief speaker in a debate on the topic: It is the home and not the school that contributes more to moral laxity among students. Good morning, Mr. Chairman, panel of judges, accurate time-keeper, co-debaters, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, fellow students. I felt highly honored to be chosen as the chief speaker in this special discussion. I am as a matter of opinion saying that it is the home and not the school that contributes more to moral laxity among students. First and foremost, the known agencies of socialization are five in which the home happened to be the first. This is to say that a child’s first contact is the home which includes the parents of the child. The parents are expected to serve as the first teacher of the child and the mother especially, is in the best position to train the child on how best to behave in the society. So if the child should behave negatively outside, it is a reflection of his home training. Secondly, the number of time a child use in the school is very short to the number of hours he uses in the home. This amounts to the fact that most of what the student needs to have to behave in the society, lies at home and so it is the home and not the school that contributes more to more to moral laxity among students. Ladies and gentlemen, is there anybody here whose parents are the school? No! Of course is the answer because the home has permanent people who are there to train the students. If this is so, there is no gainsaying that when a student behaves badly outside it is the home and not the school that contributes more to moral laxity among students. The school in its role is there to reshape whatever behavior a child exhibits, negatively to a positive change. Ladies and gentlemen, students and others, I hope I’ve been able to convince you and not to confuse you that it is the home and not the school that contributes more to moral laxity among students. In conclusion, if the home wakes up to its responsibility, the child will behave morally and would not be blamed again. Tags: ESSAY |
