Writing a book review most times seems to be a daunting task, but if you will follow the guidelines I am about to give now I hope you will achieve a meaningful review of a book.
What is a book review ?
A book review is a critical evaluation of a book with the aim of improving its quality. It is a critical evaluation of the plot, theme, characters, setting, diction, style and the general content of a book.
WHY ARE BOOKS REVIEWED ?

1. To detect errors in the book in order to correct them thereby, improving its quality.
2. To help readers in the selection of books.
3. To evaluate and determine the quality of a book.
4. For advertisement in order to attract readers and increase the sale of books.
5. To popularize the authors of those books.

HOW TO WRITE A REVIEW

First, the reviewer have to provide the bibliographic details of the book which can be gotten from the cover and title page of the book. This details include : Title of the book, date of publication, place of publication, publisher, ISBN, pagination of the book, Author.
Secondly, the reviewer has to read the book cover to cover, taking note of grammatical errors, spelling errors, the author style of writing and choice of words etc. As the reviewer reads the book, he equally accesses also taking note of the strengths and weaknesses of the book after which he summarizes the book chapter by chapter or part by part.
Lastly, the reviewer writes an honest review of the book. Here, he criticizes or praise the book based on his own evaluation of the book. The reviewer analyzes the book, reporting his findings and equally recommending what he thinks can be done to improve the quality of the book.
