The act of studying is so so important to both students and non-students. It is in studying meaningful materials (textbooks, journals, articles, novels, e.t.c) that we tend to eliminate ignorance. In that regard, one can say studying is important and shouldn’t be underestimated.

In our world today, many students find it difficult to study, a large number of students regard it as a waste of time because they prefer practical to theoretical aspect of learning.

Such category of people falls asleep whenever they pick up a book to read but stay wide awake while watching movies. This does not have to be so because studying can be so enjoyable if you make it so.

In this post, you will learn how to make studying enjoyable every time you pick up that textbook of yours that you regard as boring. The method of studying is referred to as ‘THE STORY METHOD‘

HOW CAN YOU APPLY THIS? I WILL SHOW YOU NOW

While you are studying, relate definitions of concepts, examples, figures and tables with a story(It can be a story that you just create or an already existing story you are so passionate with). Just consciously attach the story to whatever thing you are reading and you will never forget it.

For example; Using the definition of a wave, ‘a wave is any disturbance from an equilibrium position that travels or propagates with time from one point to another’.

I can just create a story of myself walking to a pool of water that is undisturbed, (here, the water is in the equilibrium position) the next thing I will do is throwing a stone into the water and I will see ripples, now the water has been disturbed(any disturbance) the ripples created(this is the travel or propagation of the wave with time) the ripples I am seeing will stop at a certain time after extending over the disturbance point (from one point to another). If I am asked for the definition of a wave, I will just think of the story and retrieve the definition with ease. This is the method I employ whenever I am studying and it has worked wonders for me.

The story method is so effective that even if you are in a noisy room, you will still get the best out of your study time.

This method also helps you digest whatever material you are studying quickly and thus you can study many materials in less time and this gives you an edge especially during your preparations for examinations.

Though students have other methods of studying that is suitable for them, they can add the ‘Story Method‘ to their great advantage.
