TOPIC: WALKING THROUGH DEPRESSION

Prophet Elijah, after an unprecedented victory over the prophets of Baal and great revival in the land, suddenly slipped into depression because of the threat of one woman, Jezebel. How could Elijah whom God used had to stop rain for three and half years, multiply food and oil (1 Kings 17:16), to raise the dead (1 Kings 17:22), call down fire from heaven to consume his sacrifice, slip into depression? This point to the human element in man.

So, you are not also immune from depression. Threats from your environment, family breakdown, lack, loss of a beloved one, sickness, betrayal, delays, etc, can trigger it. Now, how can one walk through depression and come out stronger? First, we need an angelic touch, we need someone sent by God to stand by us. In the days of your loneliness, God will post someone on duty to encourage you. Second, the voice of God – the Word from God revitalized Elijah. So you need to turn to God’s word, it has the power to break down the walls of depression. Lastly, refocus on your assignment, God refocused Elijah to his assignment. More energy is used up in Worrying. Return to your assignment and be revitalized.

PRAYER: Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my help and my God (Psalm 42:11).
