Following the clash between the police and the Shiite, it appears that some people don’t understand what Shiite means and what their agitation is all about.

To put the question to rest, I have come here to provide an answer to that. Shiite in Nigeria refers to Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).

Their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, has been detained into the custody for four years and the group is demanding his release.

The latest news (as at the time when this article was published ) has it that Buhari is considering the proscription of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).

One of the protests conducted by the group had about 6 policemen killed in the operation.

Shiite may be declared an illegal organization soon.
