What to Do If You Failed Mathematics or English in WAEC SSCE by : 10:26 am On January 10, 2025

Recently, WAEC released the results of candidates who participated in the May/June 2025 exams. Many have reached out to ask what steps to take if they failed Mathematics, English, or both in their WAEC Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

What To Do If You Failed Mathematics or English in WAEC

If you didn’t pass Mathematics, English, or both, don’t lose hope—there are still options available:

  1. If You Wrote NECO:
    • You can combine your NECO and WAEC certificates.
    • For instance, if you failed Mathematics in WAEC but passed it in NECO, you can use both certificates together.
    • If you passed both Mathematics and English in NECO, there’s no need to worry about your WAEC results, as a NECO certificate is equally recognized.
  2. If You Didn’t Write NECO:
    • Prepare to take WAEC GCE or NECO GCE. Both are valid options, and either will allow you to make up for any failed subjects.

Remember, there’s always a way forward. Share this information to help others!
