About NECO

NECO is an acronym for National Examinations Council. It is the body responsible for the conduct of the national Senior Secondary Certificate Examination
and the General Certificate in Education in June/July and December/January (NECO) respectively.

It was founded in April 1999 by former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar. Like I already said, it conducts two major exams; NECO for school candidates and NECO GCE. As at the time of writing this article, there is no date fixed for the commencement of the registration. However, some schools used to commence their registration even before NECO Officially announces the date. For example, during the time of WAEC registration, some schools mandated their candidates to pay for both WAEC and NECO. In this case, you will be informed by the school when the registration starts to update all necessary information.

How to Register for NECO 2019 Examination

Below is how to register for the NECO June/July exam.

To register for NECO examination, candidates are to obtain a draft and pay a non-refundable fee of Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred And Fifty Naira Only (N9,850) and Fifty Naira (N50) stamp duty paid via bank draft or to school management if internal registration. The payment can be done in any NECO office, banks, and Nipost offices nationwide. The registration fee covers:

• A CD on exams ethnics
• Cost for biometric data and capture
• As well as the administrative charges
